CMS block reference

Site content

This page describes the default block types that ship with a standard eMedhaa Site content setup. Treat it as a reference for authors and administrators, not a fixed product limit.

About this reference

Each institute receives a working set of blocks in the block library (heroes, content sections, marketing, FAQs, and global header/footer). Your deployment may show the same names with different fields, or additional custom blocks, depending on how your site was implemented.

Partners often rebuild or extend blocks to match branding, integrations, and course marketing. When you plan a new page, pick the closest default block, then confirm labels and fields in your own block builder library.

This article does not include screenshots: block layouts change as your site evolves. Use the block builder preview on your institute URL to see the live look and feel.

Categories in the block library

The library groups blocks roughly as follows:

  • Layout and heroes: structure and top-of-page impact
  • Content: text, cards, and blog-related pieces
  • Marketing: courses, forms, maps, and contact
  • FAQs and testimonials: trust and answers
  • Team and video: people and media highlights
  • Global settings: header and footer shared across the site

Exact group names in the UI may vary slightly by release.

Layout and heroes

Use these blocks to frame a page: first impression, section spacing, and multi-column rows.

Home hero

Large banner with headline, supporting text, and a background image. This is the primary above-the-fold block on the marketing home page.

When to use it:

  • Institute home page welcome message
  • Main value proposition plus one primary call to action
  • Seasonal campaign hero when you replace background and copy

What to configure:

  • Headline and short supporting text (keep mobile line length in mind)
  • Background image sized for wide screens; check crop in preview
  • Publish the block when copy and image are final

Page hero

Shorter title band for inner pages (About, Contact, Admissions, and similar).

When to use it:

  • Any page that is not the home page but needs a clear title area
  • Optional background image for section branding

What to configure:

  • Page title as shown to visitors
  • Background image optional; use a lighter image if text sits on top

Spacer

Adds vertical space between blocks without empty rich text.

When to use it:

  • Separating dense sections (for example FAQ after a long feature row)
  • Fine-tuning rhythm before go-live without redesigning the whole page

What to configure:

  • Size: small, medium, or large (preview on mobile and desktop)

Column layout

One, two, or three columns in container or full width. Each column can hold nested blocks such as feature cards or rich text.

When to use it:

  • Three benefits in a row on the home page
  • Two-column About page (story plus sidebar facts)
  • Full-width band with two equal promos

What to configure:

  • Column count and width mode
  • Add child blocks per column in the builder; order matters left to right

Content

Blocks for readable copy, cards, and blog presentation.

Feature card

Compact icon or image with heading and short description. Often repeated inside a column layout.

When to use it:

  • Benefits, differentiators, or process steps in a grid
  • Icons or small illustrations with one idea per card

What to configure:

  • Heading and body text (one clear idea per card)
  • Image or icon; keep file size reasonable for mobile

Rich text

Formatted HTML for longer copy: policies, about pages, or custom markup allowed by your theme.

When to use it:

  • Privacy excerpts, terms summaries, or institute history
  • Any section where a single WYSIWYG body is easier than many small blocks

What to configure:

  • HTML body; use headings inside the editor for long pages
  • Publish after link and spell check

Blog listing settings

Controls sort order for posts on the blog overview (not a visible page section by itself).

When to use it:

  • Once per blog overview page, alongside Blog overview
  • When editors need manual ordering instead of publish date only

What to configure:

  • Sort by publish date or manual order (labels depend on your build)

Blog overview

Featured posts area plus the full post listing for the Blogs branch in Site content.

When to use it:

  • Main /blogs or equivalent listing page
  • When you want featured posts above the full archive

What to configure:

  • Whether to show featured section and sidebar (if available)
  • Cards per row for grid density

Marketing

Blocks that drive discovery, leads, and course interest.

Course showcase

Shows selected courses or the latest from your catalog (same underlying course data as the public products or courses page).

When to use it:

  • Home page "top courses" or board-specific landing pages
  • Cross-sell on marketing pages before enrollment

What to configure:

  • Manual course pick list or automatic "latest" mode
  • Headline, limits, and optional link to full catalog

HubSpot form

Embeds a HubSpot form by portal and form ID when marketing uses HubSpot.

When to use it:

  • Lead capture on contact or campaign pages
  • Only when HubSpot credentials are configured for your institute

What to configure:

  • Portal ID, form ID, and region from HubSpot
  • Surrounding headline and intro in the block inspector

Map (OpenStreetMap)

Map embed with coordinates and optional marker label (no Google API key required on standard builds).

When to use it:

  • Contact page "Find us"
  • Single-campus institutes with a fixed location

What to configure:

  • Latitude and longitude (verify pin on mobile)
  • Optional address line for accessibility and SEO

Blog feed

Recent posts on any page (home, course landing, and similar), with optional category filter.

When to use it:

  • Home page "Latest news" without duplicating the full blog overview
  • Subject or campaign pages that highlight one blog category

What to configure:

  • Number of posts and category filter
  • Optional link to full blog section

Contact details

Structured address, phone, email, and hours.

When to use it:

  • Contact page alongside map or form
  • Footer-adjacent page sections with institute details

What to configure:

  • All fields that appear in your theme; empty fields may hide automatically

Call to action

Short promotional band with message and optional button link.

When to use it:

  • End of home page (apply now, book a demo)
  • Between long sections to recover attention

What to configure:

  • Message length (one or two sentences works best)
  • Button label and destination URL

FAQs and testimonials

Social proof and self-service answers.

FAQ

Accordion of question and answer pairs on one page.

When to use it:

  • Admissions, fees, and technical FAQs
  • Replacing long pages of plain text Q&A

What to configure:

  • Each item in the block inspector (combined block, not one block per question)
  • Publish after legal or policy review if answers are binding

Testimonials

Slider or grid of quotes with optional photos.

When to use it:

  • Home or course landing social proof
  • Alumni or parent quotes with permission on file

What to configure:

  • Quote text, attribution, and optional image per item

Team and video

People-focused and media blocks.

Meet the team

Carousel or grid of team profiles with photos and roles.

When to use it:

  • About page faculty or leadership section
  • Smaller institutes introducing key staff

What to configure:

  • One entry per person: name, role, photo, optional bio snippet

Video highlight

Featured video with title and poster image (file upload or external URL such as YouTube).

When to use it:

  • Institute overview or course marketing
  • Single hero video rather than a full gallery

What to configure:

  • Video URL and poster for load performance
  • Headline visible before play

Global settings

These blocks affect the whole public site, not a single page body.

Site header and site footer blocks usually live on dedicated Site content pages or global slots configured during implementation. Edit them only when you understand institute-wide impact.

Site header

Logo and tagline (and sometimes navigation-related fields) applied to the live header.

When to use it:

  • Rebrand logo or update tagline after institute rename
  • Coordinated with Site content overview and SEO settings

What to configure:

  • Logo asset and alt text
  • Tagline length suitable for mobile header

Site footer

Company name, description, and social links for the live footer.

When to use it:

  • Footer legal name, short blurb, or social profile updates
  • After marketing gives approved social URLs

What to configure:

  • Text fields and social URLs; verify links open correctly

Deprecated blocks

Older sites may still contain legacy single-purpose blocks (for example separate FAQ header or testimonial card entries). Prefer the combined FAQ, Testimonials, and Meet the team blocks on new pages.

If you migrate an old page, map each legacy block to one item inside a combined block, then remove the deprecated block to simplify editing.
